7 days of funk is the debut album from G-funk duo snoop zilla and dam funk, the dig pack consists of 6 panels with it containing only one CD. The artwork used for the album is very similar to the debut album artwork of snoop dog as they follow the same colour scheme and both drawn in cartoon form, this may be to show that the artist is going back to roots and is creating more original tracks.

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm

Briansotrm is the opening track on UK indie rock group "Arctic Monkeys" second studio album ”favourite worst nightmare". The track reached the top 40 in several countries and came in at the number two spot in the UK charts and no.1 in the UK indie charts.

From the beginning it is clear that this will be performance based, this is shown form the opening shot of the video as the group are clearly in a studio stood in front of an infinity cove, also all of the band members are stood with their performance instruments and equipment. As well as being a performance based video it also includes various abstract clips with the shots seeming unrelated to the song’s lyrics or group.

Because the video was shot in a studio this allows the director much more control over the set up. For example when outside lighting is very hard to control even with the proper lighting equipment, whereas in a studio you are able to every aspect of the lighting to get the desired shot. The lighting in the video changes between shots, when shoot the group the lighting is dim and is focused directly at the band members resulting in everything else around them covered in darkness.
Voyeurism is a key theme throughout the video, we see several female dancer featured consistently throughout the video in minimalistic clothing used to draw the attention of the male audience. There are often zooms and close up of the mid-section of the dancers to enhance the watch for pleasure effect.

There are many effects added at a post-production stage, firstly the static effect used near the beginning gives the video another dimension making it more visually different. The video is very fast paced, this is done by constant straight cuts and fast camera movement. This is done to match the feel and tempo of the song as this can enhance the viewer’s opinion on the song.

Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody

Use somebody was the second releases on the alternative rock bands fourth studio album "only by the night the song was very successful in Europe where it was number one on the Official Airplay Chart for six consecutive weeks, the official video currently has over 80million views on YouTube and is their second most popular video on YouTube behind "Sex on fire".

The video is mostly performance based being made from behind the scene and recordings of the live concerts this is because the song is about being far from home and wishing you had somebody there with you. The video try to create this feeling by giving the audience the perspective of an artist on tour. This shows the audience that even these people that have everything are still human and have moments like this.

The videos editing is fast paced and each shot is very, this could be done to symbolise the life of an entertainer and how their lives are extremely fast paced with barely enough time for a break. We see this feeling of longing for someone when the video shows several flashback moment, we see the lead sing caleb followill sitting by himself reflecting on when he was with a loved one.

Also the Ariel shot over the city is used to show the distance between the two lovers and how when on tour you can become very isolated and this is when you can "use somebody".

The video uses various effects such as speeding up time, the effect shows the hectic lifestyle that these band members all have whilst watching it is almost too much to take in and this is very reflective upon being on tour as a band member. Another after effected used during the video is changing certain clips to black and white, this is often done whilst the are preforming or when they are preparing for a show during the video this symbolises that when they are on stage or preparing they are almost different people and they lose all of their former self turning them colourless, it all highlights the contrast between them on and off stage.

Music video Analysis 1

Kasabian - Underdog

Underdog is the third release on kasabian’s third studio album west Ryder's pauper lunatic asylum it peaked in the UK singles charts at 32. Although it didn't have major success in the chart it has been hugely successful in pop culture as it has been used various types of media such as: used during the credits for the taker, Professional snooker player "mark shelby" walks out to the song and Underdog was also used as the entrance music for George Groves in his boxing match against Carl Froch at Wembley Stadium.

The video is shot as footage from one of their live shows. This help to connect the audience to the group as it shows the member naturally due to them preforming live instead of in some studio. This type of video is very common in music videos as it show the artists authenticity.

The video starts in the middle of one of the bands gigs with what looks like a POV from the perspective of someone in the audience looking up at the guitarist, this matches the feel of the song as it start. The shot is filmed in slow motion as well as in black and white, by filming in slow motion help to capture the atmosphere and presences that the band has whilst preforming on stage.

Many people believe that the lyric are about the band, and how they were written off as a group that made a few good songs and how they have almost overcome their critics. The video uses amplification as to link itself to the lyrics as it does not directly relate to the video but instead highlights the message of the song through the video.

The video is like they are putting on a show for everyone who doubted them and all that thought they wouldn't be successful. It is like they are saying look at us now, as they are preforming on stage to sell-out crowds. This is a very close link to the title of the song "underdog" as the group consider themselves underdogs in the industry.
