Codes and conventions

Star Image

Artists are often the main focus of the video and so shots of them are not uncommon, mid shot and close up are very typicall of music videos as you can

 Preformance

There are three types of music videos and they are preformance, abstract and narrative. For my track I decided to go with a preformance based video as this is very common for indie rock groups and also helps to keep the band asoicated to the music.

Editing

The first stage of editing was to organise all of my footage, I sorting through all of the clips and deleting any that were unusable. i then rename all of the remaining clips so that each clip was easily identifiable and would not take me long to find a specific clip.

Once I had organised all of my footage I then opened up sony vegas. I downloaded the track and then move it into the time line, I decided to trim the length of the track down as the song was inexcess of 6 mins and I would struggle to fill this amount of time with footage.

Evaluation Question 4 - 1st draft

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research and planning
youtube was used mostly for my research as I looked into exsisting music videos, on youtube is where I found all of the music videos which I watched several time and then went off and reveiwed and analysised them.

I used facebook messanger regularly during the planning stage as this allowed me and my actors to hold convosations over my filming schedule. Another advantage of this facebook messanger is that you are able to hold convosations with multiple people at the same time meaning I was able to send out a message that they could both see and everyone in the group can see all of the responses.
blooger was used during the entire process of my project as this is work all of my work was posted I used it as a dairy to doccumnet the progess of my work. As I had to do thi sfor last years project I had gain knowledge and experience on how to properly use blogger.

construction
To capture my footage I used a  camera and tripod this year I used the Nikon whereas last year I used the cannon, this took some getting used to but after some pratice I was aware of how to use properly and effectively.

I used photoshop for all of the image editing for my ancillaries texts. firslt I made my magazine advert which I applied many effects to as this added depth to the image making it look more appealing and attractive.

I used a nikon to film the footage of my video I had previous experince with this camera as I used this to film my AS project and so I had become familair with the camera and found it much easier to use the second time around.

The software I used to edit my videos was sony vegas, I had also used this for my AS Media project last year and so I had a much better understanding of the project this uear compared to last. I was able to use the programme much more effiecently as well I new most of the tools and functions avaible on the programme.
Blogger was also another programme I used throughout the process of my project from start to finish. I once again had the past experience of this programme as for last years project we had to blog the entire process from as early as the preliminary tasks up unitl the evaluation, we are told to blog as often as possible as this helps to show our progress during the course.

digipak Mock up

This is the initial ideas behind my digipak. I made a first rough paper drawing of the design to show what I want my final design to be like. This is only a first design and so designs and ideas may vary as I progress but will try to replicate this as much as possible.

Magazine advert mock up

This is the first draft for my bands album's magazine advert. This is how Imagine my final magazine ad will look. I will make sure I include a two shot of both band members as this helps to reenforce star image. As this is only a mock up my first and final may be very different as I may be unable to obtain certain shot or I might take better quality shot that I prerfer, if they do vary then I will explain why I decided to make the changes fom the orginal design.

I decided to make my own band name as this would allow me to create my own artist image. I brainstormed several potential ideas for band names and then to get a better option of what people liked I created a questionairre to see the most popular option, I asked at random 20 people around my sixth form to tick for their first option and circle then second favourite.

Possible album names
Fallen stars
Powdered dreams

Escapism

To choose a album name I also brianstormed several possible ideas and then made it into a questionairre and asked the same 20 people which album name they prefered and then there second choice. I also diecded to ask them their least favourite so that I avoid the tittle with the worst feedback.
