Treatment

My video will be intirely preformance based and include no narrative, the reasoning for this is because I believe I will be able to achieve a much higher quality of video if I was to create a preformanced based video rather than a narrative. This is due to me having a much clearer image of what I want to create for a preformanced video compared to a abstract or narritve. Most of my filming will be outdoors, this is because filming outdoors requires very little set-up allowing me to have much more time filming rather than perparing. whereas with filming inisde requires alot of preparation before you can begin, this is because inside there is no natural light so artificial light is required and this can often take a while to set it to the right brightness. All of my filming will be done in public areas as this does not require any location permission. I will use a varitey of shot types but the most common type being close-ups and two shots, the reasons I will use two shots so regularly is because I will be using two actors for my music video preformance and they will often need to lip syncing together.

Risk Assesment

Whilst filming there are a few risks I will have to take into consideration at my locations. These are both risk that may affect me my actors and the equipment. Firstly as I filming outdoors there is always the risk of the weather may change and effect or damage my equipment, also this may leave me unable to proceed with filming as a sudden change In weather during filming will not look professional. Other risks such as not using proper equipment casing will leave the equipment unprotected at risk of being damaged. There are not many risks that will have an impact upon me or my actors as we will be sure to be cautious and safe when filming so no accidents occur.

Location Permission

None of my fiming required location permission, this was because I filmed in public areas and so I would not require any form of permission. Before filmking I made sure that all of my locations were safe for both me my actors and that we were not putting the public at risk. I made sure that other people within the area were aware of us filming this was so we did not disturb them and they did not intrupt my filming.

Brainstorm

Before I begin with my music video I needed to brainstorm all of the possible ideas for my porject. I made several categoriesthat I saw a essential for the progress of my video and they were post porduction, camerawork, preformance, narrative and mise en scene these were what I thought were the 5 key areas for music video production. I then branched off ideas and words related to each catorgy to try and gain a better understanding of what I wanted to create. These are all just ideas and nothing on thhis page is final, this is purely used to help me find potential ideas for my video.

Song choice

For my music video I decided to that Platform moon by Jupiter One was a suitable selection. Formed in 2003, Jupiter One are American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Platform moon is the seventh track on Jupiter ones album Jupiter one which was released in 2007. there are a few reasons why I decided to use the track, One of the first reason was due to my audience and genre research show me that indie rock music was most popular between my target audience.secondly I discovered that the track had no official video made for it,another reason for this song being my choice is due to slow singing this would make lip syncing much more simple for my actors to do and also for me to edit.

Lyrics
A light on a platform
Perfume of a secret
The sound of scissors
And a girl with a faint smile

Moaning like a brick wall
As she merges on the highway
Could she be a doctor
Or a light on a platform

Every day I start new
In the mask of the afternoon
My history forgotten
In the bottom of the ocean

In the light of the platform moon

I grew up by the highway
She grew up by the sea

She hears her name in the sound
Of the waves
But the ships hold a message
For me
I was born by the highway
She´s got sand in her hair
The lonely sounds of the traffic in
The night
Will never reach her there

Woke up on a black beach
With a face I didn´t recognize
My history forgotten
In the bottom of the ocean
Everyday I start new
Broken mast and abandoned crew
Her mystery is rotting
In the bottom of the ocean

In the light of the paltform moon

I grew up by the highway
She grew up by the sea

She hears her name in the sound
Of the waves
But the ships hold a message
For me

I was born by the highway
She´s got sand in her hair
The lonely sounds of the traffic in
The night
Wïll never reach her there

Magazine Advert - Kasabian

This magazine advert is by UK indie rock band Kasabain it was released in august 2006 and was the group’s second studio album. The album reached the number 1 spot in the UK Albums charts and to date the album has sold over 1 million copies worldwide, including more than 600,000 in the UK

The band name kasabian is at the forefront of the ad and is place over the top of the artwork, this helps to make the text clear and the main focus of the magazine advert. The band name is wrote in block capitals and placed directly in the middle of the page as this is supposed to be first thing you see when looking at the ad.

The album title is shown below the band name and is in a much more formal font. The album name empire is not very clear as it is written within the image and may be mistaken as part of the artwork. Also the font is not very clear, bold or easy to read.

Black is the main colour used for the font and is used on the more important pieces this is so it stands out more on the white background, whereas the red text is used as it matches the image which includes a lot of red.

The drawing used is supposed to resemble a playing card this is clear from the icons in the corners with the K standing for King and the clover being clubs. The image used is very artist and has a much more formal look to it, this is compared to the bands other album ads which are very generic for a rock band.

Digipack - The Kings of Leon

This is the front cover of the digipak for kings of Leon’s, this image has been used to represent the album and is used in magazine advert for the album.  It is consistent with the colour scheme as the green tint is used throughout the digipak. The band name is located at the top right of the page and the album name is paced in the top left of the page. The font used is a very bright green and has a digital/computerised look to it. It is quite small and it not very eye catching to the viewer.

These are two of the inner panels from the digipak and once again is consistent with the same green tinted colour scheme. The shots taken are close ups of all of the band members shot separately, this is a very generic shot for music artist as it helps to enhance their star image and it keeps them well associated with the music.

This is the back of the digipak it is very limited to what it has on It. It contains the track listing which is shown in the small white and green font. The background is a fade of black and green which is because of the colour scheme used for the album. Logos of record labels and other companies associated with the group and album are featured on the back.
